About Kheer Ganga Trek
Kheerganga is situated in Parvati Valley at a distance of 22 km from Manikaran. For Kheerganga, one has to go by motor-able road up to a place called ‘Barshaini’ and from there to Kheerganga on foot. This trek leads through hilly terrain. This is the place where ‘Kartik Ji’, the elder son of ‘Lord Shiva’ remained in ‘samadhi’ for thousands of years.
Kheer Ganga is one of the most refreshing treks that you can go on anywhere. The natural hot-water-spring experience is something that you will remember for a lifetime. Most people who reach this place always come back for seconds as there you can simply not get enough of such a place. The place is open for about 7 months in a year and is not permanently inhabited.
The trek is very pleasant and offers some exhilarating views. The vegetation changes dramatically and opens up into a flatland that is graced by the occasional tent, the few guest houses and cafes and the temple premises which also comprises of the hot water spring.

Note: Kheer Ganga is not just a trek in the Himalayas, it is more of a spiritual journey with adventure. You will have plenty of fun, Local Dishes, bonfire, Games, Competition and Potters facility also available (only on previous request) while on trek.

So come and let the picturesque surroundings of Kheer Ganga weave their magic on you and rejuvenate your senses.

  1. DAY 01 BARSHAINI-KHEERGANGA

The trek to Kheerganga encompasses everything-  walking through rivers, waterfalls, holding on to dear life on narrow walkways, apple orchards – you name it.  If you’re a regular hiker then this one is a dream to do. One of the most beautiful treks, so picturesque that you feel an impulse to reach for your camera or pinch yourself hard to make sure it’s real.

The amazing landscapes, waterfalls and the alpine meadows are bound to make you stop and feel it and soak it in! Trek from Barshaini to Kheer Ganga is 12km. The first cafe comes after 7 Km which will indicate half battle won! Literally. Then comes Rudra Naag cafe in another 3 to 5 km. If you’re calling it quits at this point then I’d highly recommend that you carry on the climb – heaven awaits you at the end of it. All your tiredness will be washed away with a sight of the mystical hot springs of Kheerganga. 10 minutes into the pool and you’ll be tripping because of the sulphur fumes.

Do not be surprised if you hear Dholak and groups singing and beating some Shiv Natraj Music. It is one of a kind experience! Later, we will gather around the bonfire, have our tummies full and spend the night under beautiful blanket of stars

  2. DAY 02 KHEERGANGA-BARSHAINI

Enjoy the breathtakingly beautiful morning. It seems like a  spectrum painted on the canvas. Spend sometime doing nothing at all. There’s joy in doing nothing at all. Just laze around in the grass under towering pine trees with the sun filtering through the foliage.  While coming back be prepared to leave a part of yourself behind.
